How to read this page
Radar. The map shows where rain was detected over the last two hours, in 10 minute steps. It is the only measured data on this page. No colour over an area means no rain was detected there, or that the area is out of radar range, or that the feed is down. The line under the map says so when an image is still loading or did not load. Detail stops at about one kilometre, so zooming in close only enlarges the same image. The rings show the distance from Thong Sala and change with the zoom.
Zoom. Scroll or pinch over the map, double click or double tap it, or use the + and − buttons. The round button goes back to the island. To scroll the page instead, keep the pointer or your finger off the map.
Radar colours. Tan haze is a trace: drizzle, mist or radar clutter, often not reaching the ground. Blue is light to moderate rain, up to roughly 5 mm an hour. Yellow and orange are heavy rain, roughly 5 to 25 mm an hour. Red is very heavy. Pink is extreme, usually a thunderstorm core, with white at its strongest. The rates are approximate.
Rain, humidity and UV numbers. These come from a weather model for the point at Thong Sala. The model works on a grid several kilometres wide, so it cannot place a single shower. For the next hour or two, trust the radar over the rain chance.
UV. The UV index includes the forecast cloud. The clear sky figure is what it rises to when the cloud breaks. Sun protection hours are those where the clear sky index is 3 or more, the level from which the WHO advises protection.
Updates. While the page is open and visible, the radar refreshes every 5 minutes and the forecast every 15.
